Limestone Coast

After leaving Victor Harbour we stayed a few days on the Coorong. Obviously of great natural significance but not really a great spectacle for us campers. The lakes were a muddy greeny-brown and smelt when the wind was in the wrong direction. We camped in a lovely spot however that was well protected and had a beautiful vista that we shared with some very uninhibited blue tongues. They even walked over your feet if you didn't get them out of the way in time.
We were at the point of the lagoon that was closest to the main sand-dune which held back the southern ocean. Alisha and I decided that we could wade across the lagoon and visit the ocean. It was a lot deeper than we thought even accounting for the 4 feet of mud that we sank into. We ended up swimming for it carrying our Towels (and car keys) above our heads. We felt like bone fide explorers.

At Robe we had an amazing camp site
at the caravan park, right on the cliff leading to the water that was the most amazing colour. It was clear enought to see the seals playing around the rocks. Alisha and I had a great swim. I even got up close and personal to a small sting ray (no fault of mine- it didn't see me  kneeling in the shallows- or maybe it took me for a beached whale). The weather didn't last of course, 2 days is too much to hope for and we had the worst night of wind that kept us up all night. Time to go.

As a finale to Alisha's trip we decided to go to Naracoorte to visit the caves. We wanted to do the adventure caving tour but of course
it only runs during the holidays (Vic). however this time we were lucky and another couple Kylie and Micheal wanted to do it as well and so they arranged a special tour for us. What a BUZZ that was. The caves were not full of stalagmites etc but of very small spaces theat we had to crawl, slide, wriggle through; lots of challanges even for Alisha who is so thin and agile. So imagine what it was like for me who is already physically challenged. The guide said he was very impressed with us as we mananged to get through all the curly bits. Of course he says that to all the groups. Still we were pretty pleased with ourselves
