From Leigh Creek to Lake Eyre and on to Quorn

We found a real gem of a camp at Leigh Creek Very ordinary camp site but a fantastic Camp Kitchen. All cooking and a fridge and dining room and even a lounge with a TV. First time in over a month we awere able to watch and found all of our favorites had finished Doc Martin and Crownies.)
This was just a stop over as we had planned a Flight over Lake Eyre a couple of  days later. We enjoyed the coal mine and Aroona Dam.and the air conditioned Camp Kitchen When we got to Lyndhurst we arrived at 10 am for a 5 pm flight. What are we going to do HERE? There were three tourist attractions; the ochre cliffs, an historic ghost town being restored and an eccentric artist and all were fantastic
I thought the flight over LE was a little disappointing but it was the only way we were going to be able to see it. So I guess that was an experience that I will never have again (probably).
We actually went on the Sterzleki track' just because we couldn't at Tibooburra. What a lucky escape that was!  At Tibooburra we had one day when the road to the Strezleki Track was open but we decided we would wait to see what the weather was doing. Had we gone on that day we would have got stuck before Merty and 10 days later the road was still closed (see photo) Phew!!
We then went on to Quorn stopping by the side of the road somewhere didn't bother to set up properly as we were heading off early. Unfortunately the wind came up again so we left at dawn (Ugh!) and got to Quorn before the shops were open. had the best cup of coffee at Emily's Bistro. Unfortunately Emily was in hospital after suffering a stroke (only 30) but we intend to pass this way again in about a month and reaaly hope that she will serve us this time.
