Fleurieu Penninsula

Yeah! Alisha has joined us but before that we visitd  the Remarkables and Mannum.
Met some intersting people at both places; Renee a german who did a PHD in Scotland on plant stabilisation on hills. He was one fit guy. Walked in to the camp and slept on the ground in the open and was due to fly out from Adeleaide the next day. His accent reminded me of Katrina. Is she here yet?

We had a bonus at Manum on the Murray. A free camp close to the centre of town; just a short ferry ride away. We arrived  on a Saturday just in time for the Xmas parade which was interesting and the Fireworks which were amazing. We met Michele and Russell who gave us the good oil on free camps through out the west. Stehpen and Trudy from Tasmania were very out going and got us to the parade.

Stayed there tgree days and got the budget back on track!!

Then on to Adelaide to pick up Alisha and we stayed at Brighton the namesake of the town I was brought up in. A bit similar too except the water was colder but it was great to have my first swim in the ocean for 6 weeks.

We then travelled down to Rapid Bay and unfortunately the weather had changed and it has been cold and wet since then but the colour of the water was a brillant Emerald Green. Alisha found a cave to explore and it went 20 m deep. Far enough to block out all the light from the entrance but not the smell of bird shit.

Deep Creek Conservation Park would have been really great if the weather was half way decent. Still, did some walking and have seen some of the last remnants of the wild flowers. The rocks of Blowholes Beach were amazing. They were a smooth metallic grey silt-stone which had had holes blasted into them from the sand and wind with quartz intrusions at wierd angles and patterns. Then the whole thing tilted 50 deg and cut off to a cliff at the top. This is the start of the Heyson trail that end in the Palachilna Gorge 1200 km away in the Flinders Ranges. One Bloke had walked the whole way on his own in 28 days. Thus proving that there are still plenty of idiots around!
